Dr. Samantha Horswill has dedicated her research and clinical work to preventing and treating PTSD. She works regularly with frontline worker, healthcare, and public safety personnel agencies at municipal, provincial, & federal levels. This workshop has been designed to help first responders, healthcare workers, and frontline workers sharpen their resilience and keep a sense of satisfaction and humor in their jobs. You will learn to assess your baseline mental health and recognize changes; build a practical, research-informed resilience routine; plan for recovery after a critical incident or difficult day; and understand available options to treat an operational stress injury.
Dr. Horswill has given talks and workshops to a variety of audiences, including the following recent examples:
“Preventing and treating PTSD for Internet Child Exploitation Unit officers and prosecutors." Presented to SK Internet Child Exploitation Unit police officers and community prosecutors.
“Diagnosis and treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder.” Presented to the Saskatoon and Area Psychology Residency Program.
“Facilitating successful return to work after mental health concerns.” Presented to members of the Saskatoon Fire Department and Saskatoon Firefighters Union Local IAFF80.
